Mould in your rented home: how do you build a file? General information.
Found mould or damp patches? Photograph them and note the room and when the problem occurs. Describe recurring condensation, leaks and earlier repairs too. A visible patch alone does not establish responsibility or the underlying technical cause.
Send the landlord photographs, locations and effects on using the home. Ask for a response and investigation of the cause. Keep your report and offers of access for inspection. A phone call can help but provides less evidence of what was reported when.
Note who inspected the home, the findings and agreed measures. If mould returns, record it again with a date. Do not rely solely on accusations about ventilation, or present your own suspected cause as a proven technical conclusion.
Serious maintenance defects may allow a Huurcommissie procedure, depending on the sector and conditions. A repair order may require a different route. Your photograph does not automatically entitle you to a rent reduction. Check the aim, report and procedure before paying less.
Bring together reports, inspections and repair agreements. For urgent problems seek appropriate help immediately; for health complaints seek separate medical advice. This video gives no diagnosis. The detailed guide helps prepare the tenancy-law question and links to official maintenance information.
