Subsidised legal aid for rental problems.
A legal aid certificate is a government contribution towards the cost of a lawyer. It does not guarantee free help: you may have to pay a personal contribution and other costs.
When is subsidised legal aid possible?
The Raad voor Rechtsbijstand considers income, assets, the importance of the case and whether other help is appropriate, among other things. A lawyer applies for a legal aid certificate. Use the current conditions published by the Raad; amounts may change annually.
Which costs remain?
Ask the lawyer about your personal contribution, court fees and possible litigation costs. Legal expenses insurance or a local tenant support team may also be relevant. Do not delay seeking help if a deadline is running.
How do you take the first step?
Start with the Juridisch Loket or a lawyer who accepts legal aid cases. Provide your agreement, financial details and correspondence, and ask for clarity on costs before instructing the lawyer.
